“I was pleased to have the opportunity to support an initiative which represented the work of women who are very much in need of gainful employment and the support whch is derived from the group setting. I am aware from my own work of the benefits that the program has produced in the live of women who have participated,” Greg Mead, Senior Counsel, Legal Services Commission of SA.
“Projects such as this really encourage and support women exiting prison, and are a vital component of the rehabilitation process. Women who are making positive changes in their lives need the additional support that programs such as Seeds of Affinity can provide. This program provides a safe and drug free environment where the women do not feel stigmatised. It is also a venue where they can feel productive and engaged. In my experience these are extremely important factors,” Kirsten Hicks, Senior Social Worker.
“I was immensely impressed with the quality of the products but, more importantly, after hearing one of the women speak I could immediately understand how important this group is. It is clearly important for the self esteem of these women to engage in such activities. I only wish that there were more such options available,” Trish Johnson, Barrister and Solicitor, Legal Services Commission of SA.
Thank you for the beautiful gift baskets which the women involved in the Seeds of Affinity project have been making. We used them as presentation gifts at our United Against Domestic Violence Conference and they were greatly appreciated. This is the third time that we have used these products and the quality and presentation are always remarked upon. - Diana Lockwood, Chair, Soroptimist International Torrens
